Worn out with sharing news, she gazed out the window and noted how very disconnected what she saw in real life was from social media news feeds.
On her phone, the twittering of a bad world flowed. A gentle thumb caressing screen scrolling. Like here, love there, an endless rolling forward and out of blood, arrests control. Yet within her mind, indeed out of her very door, sun shone, birds sang and children laughed.
Which of the two was real? The tangibly touchable dawn wet grass or the smooth glass of technological interconnectiveness. Both held stories, one of streams of others reported experience and the other of experiences already owned.
You might think the choice between the two was easy. The lived experience or the experiences others live and you might feel there actually is no choice. But she had noticed in messaging a friend, that the words on the screen were of tiny amount compared to the conversation had. The minds had been so linked, impressions and suggested thoughts appearing and transmitting at such rapid pace, there could be no doubt something other than usual communication had taken place.
Had her friend noticed?
So the dilemma had not raged on, rather the gentle tug between real and screen sought to balance, a new picture, of a new world, of a communication that used a screen as a medium. Exactly as the tarot stands between the reader and God, the WiFi stood as a training medium for those who did not as yet understand that telepathy was possible, without it.
Use your powers wisely, to those of you who have noticed.
